Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I register with JobCrystal?

We don't like to brag, but...

  • We own the only passive job-seeker database in South Africa.
  • We allow you conduct the search yourself, in real time and at no cost (call your local recruitment agency and ask whether you can come and have a little browse through their stash of CVs – we predict the answer will be a rather firm “no”).
  • Our website has a really simple, clean, and user-friendly interface.
  • We don't ask for a cent until you make your first successful placement – and even then it's a once off fee, which makes budgeting a whole lot easier.

There's more, but really, we don't like to brag – so it's probably best if you just sign up and try it for yourself.

Does it cost me anything?

Yes and no. Let's take "no" first: it costs you absolutely nothing to register, to search for candidates, to create job adverts and to access the details of your matched candidates. So basically, you can do anything on the site, apart from actually hiring someone, without paying a cent. However, once you've made a successful placement, we will levy a low, once off, flat fee of either R7,500 or R12,000 or R18,000 depending on the level of the placement.

Can my password be anything?

Almost. There are just a few tiny rules:

  • Your password should be between 6 and 12 characters long.
  • You can use any characters you like, including @, $, #, %
  • Don't use your name, birth date, or the name of your company. They're kind of easy to guess, and that's not a good trait for passwords.

I have created my profile, so why can't I log in?

We have no idea. No, really, that shouldn't be happening. But if it does, we'd really like to know about it, so please email your username and the error you're getting to enquiries@jobcrystal.co.za. If you're really frustrated and would like to be able to shout at a real person rather than just pounding the keys on your keyboard, you can call us on 0861 000 929.

If I forget my password, does that mean I'm a bad person?

Not at all. Between remembering to finish your monthly reports, fetch the kids from school, call that guy who left a message but not his name, and drink your coffee before it gets cold, it's not at all surprising if you forget one of your many, many passwords. It happens to all of us. Just click here or on the "Forgot your password?" link below the login form on the homepage, or you can email your username to enquiries@jobcrystal.co.za, or call us on 0861 000 929, and we'll help you out. (Please don't call this number for advice when you forget to pick up the kids, though – we're not very good at that sort of thing.)

Can I view a candidate's complete profile?

Indeed you can, but only once you've identified the candidates you'd like to interview and they've agreed to have their details released to you. Confidentiality is very, very important to us.

Can I view the deleted jobs?

Yes. Deleted jobs are kept on the system, just in case you get a little nostalgic, or want to create a new position based on a listing you posted previously.

Do I need to register to search for a candidate?

Yes, you do; but registering on JobCrystal is nothing like registering to vote or registering your new vehicle at the traffic department. Firstly, the JobCrystal registration function doesn't take tea breaks. That's a big plus right there. And on top of that, there are no long forms to be completed, no roadworthy tests, and no fingerprinting – just pick a username and password and you're done.

Can I do a search for more than one position?

Absolutely. Our service wouldn't be much use if you could only search for one new staff member at a time, would it? As it happens, you can run as many concurrent searches as you wish – simply create a job listing for each individual position.
